in my skin

in my skin is my first solo performance, an intimate one-to-one lasting 10 minutes. It is based on my experience of losing my mother. The piece acknowledges the singular experience of grief while drawing on the maternal act of hosting space. Using my body, live and recorded sound, projection and minimal props I am exploring maternal grief, mother/daughter relationships and the ageing female form.

Grief is experienced differently by each and every one of us. in my skin acts as an invitation for reflection, nurturing increased understanding and dialogue around this complex issue. It explores the relationship between slowness and the quiet political presence of an older woman’s performing body.
